Our Dance Company

• We are a professional jazz dance company whose goal is to promote, produce, and perform quality jazz dance.
• Under the artistic direction of Marilyn York, our company focuses on theatrical jazz dance concerts with emphasis on technical excellence in dance, broad variety and professionalism.
• Our repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary jazz dance and from the Big Band era to Broadway dance.
• All of our dancers are seasoned performers with extensive classical dance training and performance experience.
• We provide our company members with opportunities for performance, artistic growth, and appreciation.

Audition Information

Company Requirements:

• Eighteen years of age or older,
• Formal classical dance training,
• Strong current ballet and jazz dance technique,
• Ability to quickly learn new choreography and style,
• One year dance company commitment,
• Attendance at rehearsals and classes in Fairfax Virginia on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons,
• Residence within a reasonable commuting distance.

Audition Process:

1. You must complete and submit the online form (below) to apply for an audition.
2. We will request your detailed dance resume and photo by return email.
3. You will be notified by email if you have been accepted for an in-person audition.
4. Auditions are conducted with our dance company by the Artistic Director at a Fairfax Virginia area dance studio in a master class type of environment.
5. A $15 audition fee will be collected at the audition.
6. Video auditions may be accepted in lieu of an in-person audition depending on the dancer background and experience.
   1. Video audition requirements:
      1. Pirouettes
      2. Floor Work
      3. Leaps
      4. Kicks
      5. No more than 3 minutes in length
      6. Variety of dance styles included (e.g., broadway, contemporary, jazz, etc.)
